Education & Training

Overview

Training as a Chartered Accountant covers all aspects needed to be a business adviser. Working in one of the ICAEW's authorized training offices allows you to gain professional knowledge, an array of skills and broad experience and well as the personal development needed to qualify.

There are two stages to the training.
The Professional Stage is where you will gain the understanding of the concepts and principles of accounting. The Advanced Stage is where you apply your learning in a work environment and where you will face real business issues.

In order to join the training programme, you will need to be a high calibre graduate. 85% of ICAEW students have a 2:1 of 1st class degree. Some training organisations in Malaysia may prefer graduates from UK universities however some will also accept other nationally-accredited university qualifications which are comparable with a UK degree such as bachelor degrees from Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand.

You do not need to have your first degree in Accountancy or a similar business qualification as the ACA qualification provides specific training in accounting. In fact, only 4% of ACA students have an accountancy degree.
