Malaysian Ministry of Finance Officially Launches ACA Tuition Programme Last week saw the launch of a new ACA tuition programme in Malaysia. On Tuesday 17 August the ICAEW launched a new partnership with Sunway College, Malaysia's most prestigious private college. The college, which has a reputation for consistently producing prize-winning professional accounting students, will provide ACA tuition from September this year. The launch was an auspicious occasion, officiated by representatives from the Ministry of Finance. Despite a crowded market for accountancy qualifications in Malaysia, there is recognition that the ACA represents the highest quality and prestige, as evidenced by the Ministry's presence.
ICAEW President Paul Druckman addressed more than 100 Members, media, and guests from business and industry who attended the launch. He said "this partnership will contribute to Malaysia's aspiration to be a regional centre for educational excellence and it is one that will build value and underpin the strength and diversity of the local, as well as global accounting community". The ICAEW Malaysia Committee, chaired by Dato' Narendra Jasani, Managing Partner of Shamsir Jasani Grant Thornton, represents over 800 members in Malaysia and has been instrumental in promoting the ICAEW brand and ACA training. Through their tireless efforts, the number of organisations interested in training ACAs has grown, and with it the diversity of work experience available for local students. Four new training organisations have recently been authorised to train ACAs and were awarded their Certificates of Authorisation at the launch. Three of these are from business; Sunway Group, Genting Resorts World Berhad and ECM Libra Berhad, with Chartered Accountancy firm, Peter Chong and Co completing the four. Malaysian City Group
The ICAEW has a City Group in Malaysian that hosts regular social and professional development events for members in the region. Their website www.icaew.com.my provides members and the wider community access to information and ICAEW and ACA news, as well as a full list of Malaysian training organisations. |
